Friends since childhood and artistic co-conspirators, Amy Ziff (vocals, cello, piano), Elizabeth Ziff (vocals, guitar, programming) and Alyson Palmer (vocals, bass, percussion, programming) have been recording, touring, performing, and creating together as independent artists for twenty-seven years. In addition to television, film, Off-Broadway theater and concert tours, BETTY travels the world as Arts Envoys for the US State Department, performing humanitarian outreach and cultural diplomacy.
From their inception, BETTY has pushed the boundaries of pop music, utilizing their powerful, fun, fierce, female energy as an extension of their tight harmonies, breezy backbeats, and unwavering emphasis on melody. BETTY aspires to bring joy, love, heartbreak, sex and hilarity through their music.

'A request by the artist, Darren Waterston, that the band make acoustic fragments for his installation now showing at the Smithsonian institution in Washington DC, provoked much music. Through a couple of twists and turns, we came up with something unanticipated and unlike anything BETTY had done before.' Read Thorne's comments on the recording and production of BETTY's Filthy Lucre Soundscape, released May 2015.
The grand opening of Filthy Lucre: the Peacock Room Remix, at the Smithsonian's Sackler Gallery took place on May 16th 2015, with BETTY performing at Flock Together, the after-gala party on the previous evening.

BETTY rock at PEACOCKalypse!
On June 13th, BETTY performed at the Asia After Dark: PEACOCKalypse, the after-hours party that this year was an official event of Capital Pride. Party-goers flashed back to the gilded glamour of the Peacock Room and met its alter ego Filthy Lucre, an installation by artist Darren Waterston that reimagines Whistler’s famous work as a resplendent ruin.
BETTY'S Anniversay Concert Part 2 took place at Joe's Pub, NYC, April 18th 2015. This was an extra show: the February show sold out so quickly, and a lot of people couldn't come.

Their last full-length release, Bright & Dark, produced by David Maurice (Kelis, Garbage) is a lush exploration of the challenges and triumphs of their recent past, including Elizabeth’s battle with breast cancer. BETTY Rules, BETTY's Off-Broadway show at New York's Zipper Theatre tells the story of the band's development, the ups and downs and the sideways lurches. The reviews after the first night were rave, as were the audiences. As the slogan went, truly 'the exception to the musical'.
From October 15th 2002, they delivered 212 performances. They took the show to Chicago May 6 2004, finishing six weeks later on June 20.
A five week run in Washington DC finished April 3 2005, having sold out every show.
