Unstoppable activists, BETTY use music for humanitarian outreach: working for equal rights, peace and aid, as well as the empowerment of girls and women. Named Arts Envoys in 2012, the trio often works with the U.S. State Department internationally in Cultural Diplomacy.

The event will also feature musical performances by Madam Cj, and the Love Supremes.

BETTY, freshly back from their US State Department-sponsored visit to India, have been active again in the studio, this time with Thorne producing.

The artist Darren Waterston has constructed a warped and destroyed version of Whistler’s Peacock Room, the same size, and he asked the band to contribute music and sounds to be played from what will be around eight sources scattered around the space.

The full piece is about 11 minutes long, and excerpts from it are being stitched into place. As yet, we don’t know where or when a release of the complete version might happen.

The opening took place at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adam on March 29th 2014..

BETTY performed At MassMOCA, 87 Marshall St, North Adams, MA 01247 Club B-10, tel: 413.MoCA.111 Saturday March 22 at 8pm.

Darren Waterston spoke briefly about his collaboration with BETTY before the show.

BETTY Rules is the story of the band's development, the ups and downs and the sideways lurches. The reviews after the first night were rave, as were the audiences. As the slogan went, truly 'the exception to the musical'.

BETTY continued to develop the show, going to Chicage in 2004 and Washington DC 2005 and 2006.

A five week run in Washington DC finished April 3 2005, having sold out every show.
