To celebrate the release of their first album in 26 years, the Shirts play CBGB’s, New York, this Wednesday June 28, on stage at 8pm. Only The Dead Know Brooklyn features the new lineup with Caren Messing (vocals) and Kathy McCloskey (vocals and keyboards). Arno Hecht of the Uptown Horns will be guesting on tenor saxophone.
Observant site visitors will have noticed the new blue CD cover gradually creeping on to the bottom of our pages. We are now delighted to announce its release and that it will be available for sale on the site from Wednesday June 28 at $14.99 including shipping. Better, you can buy it at the club on the night at the special one-off knock-down discount rate of $10 and get a free full-color poster thrown in.
There’s now a massive trove of Shirts pages to view. You might start with their new biography, which traces how they grew up in the same Brooklyn neighborhood and developed to be one of the earliest CBGB’s bands in the late 70s. Then there are image galleries, one from that classic Bowery time and another documenting their reincarnation which has culminated in their new CD.
For this new CD, the Shirts are reunited with the producer of their first two albums in 1978 and 1979: Mike Thorne. Read his accounts of making those records during that special time.
Finally, as summer disintegrates in New York thunderstorms, we fly past a total of 1000 Web pages on the Stereo Society site. More follows...
