It's the end of summer. Oh well.
At least we don't get many thunderstorms and flash floods in January.
But we have to get back to serious after the sunshine. Sort of.

There are a few small news and more frivolous things fresh on the site, but we’ve mostly been busy with music-making in the past month.  As well as hanging on to the last gasp of summer around New York.

In maybe three weeks’ time, we’ll release another club CD jumping off from Thorne’s The Contessa’s Party CD.  This time, the favored track is Grandma’s Goodbye, which seems to have become a choice pick.  The chorus is homage to his grandmother, married to a Yorkshire boilermaker, who kissed him and wished him goodbye every morning when he left for his shift.  She used to recite an orally passed-on rhyme:

To go to work
To make some money
To buy some bread
To make us strong
To go to work…..

It wasn’t such a grind as that, but you get the picture.  We’ll let you know when the mixes are done, by Thorne and guest Norty Cotto, the ace Latin house New York star, just as last time around with the first club issue Dancing With B.

Mike Thorne throws the Contessa's PartyBy way of minor diversion, we’ve extended the strict Rules for the Contessa’s Party, and provide more photos of the glamorous ladies: an ongoing but rewarding task.  The new Mike Thorne throws the Contessa's Partycontrol corset is very fetching, thanks to Claire Louise Butler’s inspiration. Go find it.

Lene Lovich played two stunning sets to wildly enthusiastic crowds at the Knitting Factory, headlining the Drop Dead Festival 4, on September 1st and 3rd.  We add three dramatic pictures to her expanding photo-gallery, including one from September offered for hi-res download.

The Shirts, Only The Dead Know BrooklynThe Shirts, half in contrast and half in sync, have been up and down.  They played to a raucously full CBGB’s house in July, then had the quietest time at Brooklyn’s Southpaw on a September Wednesday (after which the club told them: ‘you can come back here any time’).  This was their first Brooklyn night since releasing Only The Dead Know Brooklyn. Go figure, as they say.  It was one of their best performances ever, in the opinion of long-time informed observers.  Don’t stay home next time...
